OUR STORY

After years of DJing weddings, parties and events, Dan and Lawrence found themselves astounded by the lack of care given by DJ's just going through the motions playing the same old playlists on repeat.

Since they teamed up to build The Musicologist, it has seen them play at weddings and parties all over the UK and Europe, and some celebrity parties, including Premier League football teams (see our gallery).

MEET THE DJ'S

LOZ

Lawrence (Loz) first started DJing when he was only 10 years old, using his parents and Grandma's old LP players to play records. This led him to study a BSc in Music Technology, graduating in 2009.

Since then he has become an established DJ who has played all over the world. Highlights of his career include tens of millions of online plays, 10 tracks played on Radio 1 and being a guest DJ on Radio 1Xtra. He has been booked to play in major cities worldwide, namely Moscow, Prague, Amsterdam, London, and San Francisco.

People who frequent Leeds' finest cocktail bars may recognise him as he has spent the over a decade DJing these hotspots every weekend, including the well-known Sky Lounge, where he has been their only resident since it opened in 2010.

In his spare time, he competes in triathlons and spends time with his two young girls.

RYAN

Ryan and Loz met through DJing at nightclubs in Leeds in 2011. They became close friends and regularly DJ’d student nights, club nights, and cocktail bars in Leeds.

Ryan was a DJ prodigy and was still a teenager when he landed his first residency in Leeds, before becoming a DJ Teacher at the world-renowned DJ School, Crossfader.

After moving away to become a DJ and Music Technology course leader, Ryan returned to Yorkshire. Since the pandemic finished and music returned to venues, Ryan has been in full swing bringing party vibes to every single wedding he does!

DAN

Hailing from Gloucestershire, Dan moved North where he studied Popular Music BA Hons at Leeds College Of Music.

Whilst performing at weddings and parties as a DJ and a musician, Dan also co-founded Synth City Ltd and it’s 80s themed club night 'Vice City', now touring the UK as the main resident. He has showcased his party-starting vibes with DJ sets at some of the biggest festivals in Europe, including; Rise Festival, Parklife, Bestival, El Dorado, Reading & Leeds Festivals and many more.

A true musician at heart, Dan's spends much of his spare time working as a guitar tutor at Your Guitar Academy and is a keen music producer writing music for TV and mixing for various other artists. He performed at Download Festival, Reading & Leeds Festivals and on a live session for BBC Radio.

One of his many hidden talents is painting landscapes, and he is a keen skydiver!

LUKE

Luke has been a firm favourite at bars and clubs across Yorkshire for the last 7 years, bringing energy and seamless selections to every set. A passionate DJ, event promoter, and label owner, he has been throwing events and parties across Leeds for the since 2017, curating unforgettable nights for music lovers.

Based in Leeds, Luke co-owns and runs his own independent record label and continues to DJ at clubs and festivals across the UK. He’s also a resident DJ on Subtle Radio London, keeping the airwaves buzzing with his diverse selections. Whether he’s spinning throwback R&B, Kisstory anthems, or noughties floor-fillers, his sets are guaranteed to get the crowd moving.

Music is everything to Luke, and when he’s not behind the decks, you’ll likely find him behind the camera.
